Pray for Pastor Son and the Church in South Korea
Good Call Ministries calls believers everywhere to join in urgent prayer for Pastor Hyun-bo Son and the faithful church in South Korea during this dark and trying hour.
Pastor Son has spent more than 30 years shepherding Segero Church in Busan, once a struggling rural congregation, now a vibrant community of more than 4,000 believers with a deep love for Christ and a bold public witness. Known for his humility and integrity, he has led national prayer gatherings and stood courageously for biblical truth.
On September 9, Pastor Son was unexpectedly arrested after months of investigation connected to brief comments made in Sunday sermons and prayer gatherings. While such election-law disputes in Korea are normally handled with small fines, Pastor Son remains in prison, a move that many view as a grave threat to religious freedom and free expression. His family and congregation grieve yet continue to stand firm in faith.
Earlier this month, American Christian leader Charlie Kirk visited Korea alongside Pastor Rob McCoy to encourage believers and meet with Pastor Son. Just one week after returning home, Charlie Kirk was tragically martyred. Pastor Rob has since returned to Korea to honor his friend’s promise to stand with Segero Church and protect its pulpit.
We invite you to pray earnestly that Pastor Son will be released and shielded from harm, that his wife, children, and congregation will be upheld by God’s comfort and strength, and that believers across South Korea will be filled with renewed courage and boldness to proclaim Christ despite pressure. Pray that the Lord will pour out revival, bring justice, and use this suffering to make the light of the Gospel shine brighter than any opposition.
Together, let’s be like Jesus — standing for truth, loving boldly, and praying without ceasing.
